About Division MSD

Our Materials and Structural Analysis business helps customers drive ground breaking research and discoveries by delivering innovative microscopy, spectroscopy and microanalysis solutions, such as best-in-class scanning and transmission electron microscopes, DualBeam™ FIB-SEMs, and spectrometers, combined with advanced software suites. We span across the business areas of spectroscopy, visualization software, semiconductor, life sciences, and material sciences, as well as global support functions, like commercial sales, service, operations, research and development, advanced technologies and marketing.

The role

We are looking for you to strengthen the Field Service Team for our Electron Microscopy Service organization in the EMEA region. You will have your place of living in Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Denmark, or Sweden.

The EM-Academy Engineer role is a starting position within the MSD Electron Microscopy Services organization and ideal for a graduate with a desire to become a field service engineer. The work consists of a specific 9-month training and development program with multiple formal instructor-led training courses at our global training centers alongside extensive time of on-the-job learning in the assigned region with more experienced engineer mentors.

Within the 9-month EM-Academy Graduate Program we are expecting you to travel extensively within the region to gain invaluable technical skills in electron microscopy and experience in field service activities on a variety of electron microscopy systems. Upon completion of the graduate program EM-Academy Engineers advance into Field Service Engineer positions delivering outstanding customer service for our Electron Microscopy customers in your assigned service area.

What will you do?

  • Travel across region to customer sites performing primarily planned activities including on-site installation, and preventive maintenance.
  • Timely and accurate recording of your activities.
  • Document the work done and works according to standard operating procedures.
  • Provide continuous feedback to team members striving for continuous improvement and alignment with the objectives.
  • Finish the assigned training courses and pass the end of program performance and skills review.
  • Complete the 9-month EM Academy Graduate Program
  • Foster and develop positive working relationships with Thermofisher Scientific colleagues and customers assuring the highest level of customer experience.
  • Ensure full dedication and compliance to follow company policies including all position specific Health and Safety laws and procedures.

What will you need?

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in mechatronics, mechanical / electrical / electronic, or any equivalent engineering major.
  • Graduates within the last 24 months or expected to graduate before the program start date preferred.
  • Able to obtain a valid passport and travel frequently as required up to 80%
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • IT skills in Microsoft Windows and Office environments.
  • Good English language skills in word and writing.
  • Curiosity about technology with motivation to develop skills and knowledge in service engineering.
  • Attention to detail with good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to carry out precision mechanical work.
