The EHS Specialist is a role that will have oversight of all EHS&BIO programs and site support activities at the Viral Vector Services. This position has responsibility for the development and implementation of EHS&BIO policies, procedures and programs that reduce the risk of adverse EHS&BIO events and assure compliance with all relevant regulations. This position is responsible for EHS&BIO support of manufacturing, laboratory, facility, and support spaces.

A day in the Life:

  • EHS&BIO is responsible for implementing programs and policies that align with all applicable local, state rules and regulations
  • The EHS&BIO department promotes a safe and environmentally friendly work environment through the integration of valuable programs, policies, and services. The group strives to promote a positive safety culture through communication, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop key performance indicators and ensure effective communication to site and divisional leadership teams. Track performance through the site EHS&BIO committee and take countermeasures that address negative trends.

Keys to Success:

Education

High school diploma:

  • Safety advisor level 1
  • Biosafety officer certified, if possible
  • Master in engineering or science.

Experience

  • 5 to 10 relevant years of experience in EHS in Senior position.
  • Experience in industrial environment, a must with a few years in the pharma or biotechnology industry.
  • Shopfloor experience for implementation of risk analysis on different workstations and manufacturing areas
  • Strong leadership and communications skills as well as the ability to influence across multiple functions

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of various regulations: environment, health, safety, and biosafety.
  • Communication skills: French and English (written and spoken )
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Safety advisor level 1
  • MS office suite

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This type of facility needs to be conformed to the rules et regulation of the GMP established by the ministers of health and the social protection of countries, as well as the international directives. The manufacturing units are classified GMP areas and gowning procedure and restricted access conditions need to be followed.
