Location/Division Specific Information
The role of Divisional Packaging Engineering Manager (DPEM) will be based out of Fair Lawn, NJ, USA and will support the global Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD)
Discover Impactful Work:
The DPEM will lead LCD's packaging engineering function across the global division. Accountable for leading the LCD packaging philosophy driven by Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SDQC) by ensuring all packaging material, packaging use, and packaging storage and handling meet applicable chemical compatibility and our customers expectations. This includes specification of packaging materials and safe packages, testing to regulatory and quality requirements, and cost and design reviews with suppliers.
The DPEM will provide matrix leadership and site support to site safety, procurement, operational and process technical teams. This is achieved through leading and collaborating with multi-functional teams and analyzing packaging performance indicators and complaint rates to identify trends, areas for improving the customer experience and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks and opportunities.
A day in the Life:
- Champion the divisional packaging engineering function; develop the site(s) teams capability to conduct and packaging knowledge. lead the day-to-day workload of the packaging engineering team.
- Ensure accurate packaging specification, bills-of-materials, packaging instructions and other documentation to guarantee proper packaging of products and procurement of packaging components.
- Assist the operational teams in resolving problems associated with packaging components, supplies, equipment and develop a culture of continued improvement in our packaging processes.
- Assist and support the development of package design and specifications for new products and product line extensions in alignment with the new product introduction schedule.
- Investigate customer problems/complaints concerning package performance, and determine if corrective measures need to be taken to ensure packaging for the product remains safe, cost-effective, compliant to regulatory requirements, and utilizes the latest technological developments where applicable
- Develop a packaging roadmap and executable plan driving improvements in package performance, efficiency, cost savings and customer experience.
- Collaborate with Customer Service and Global Chemicals Chemical Account Managers on related packaging inquiries as necessary.
- Support divisional strategic packaging investment projects staying ahead of industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes related to regulated packaging.
- Ensure accurate packaging specification, bills-of-materials, packaging instruction documentation and other documentation to ensure proper packaging of products and procurement of packaging components.
• Monthly reporting and reviews with site teams and agencies

Keys to Success:
Education
Bachelors of Science in Packaging Science (or an Engineering background if combined with experience in the Field of Packaging)
Experience
Packaging related experience with UN Packaging/Hazmat requirements
Packaging test methods and packaging equipment desirable
Working knowledge of statistics and/or reliability engineering
Matrix Management
Experience of working at a chemical site preferred
1-2 years of leadership experience, preferred

- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical partners
- Experienced in working with multi-functional global teams and leading collaboratively to achieve business objectives
- Demonstrates a self-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic approach

- Ability to make timely and informed decisions based on data, analysis, and risk assessment
- PC literate with a strong skill using Power BI, Databases, Outlook, and Excel.
