How you will make an impact

The Global Procurement function within Thermo Fisher Scientific leverages and enhances elite Source to Pay (STP) platforms in a complex global and system environment. This platform includes processes, technologies and corporate structures. Processes include purchasing, sourcing, vendor master data processes, supplier enablement and invoice processing.

The Global STP Process Leader is responsible for the integrity and global standardization of policies, procedures, processes & technologies on a global end-to-end basis. Ensures that policies are adaptable globally and local differences are by exception only. Enhances, sustains and monitors process standards across Thermo Fisher. Partners with functions across the enterprise to ensure objectives are met

Sub process leaders and regional process owners will report into this role either directly or indirectly. As a member of the Procurement Enablement Leadership Team, will collaborate on the provisioning of processes in support of the overall procurement function and participate in functional or enterprise level projects.

What you will do

  • Own and cultivate the Source to Pay processes within the global organization, standardizing where possible and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for performance metrics
  • Ensure that recommendations meet business and enterprise needs within a global procurement organization.
  • Drive process consistency both within the systems and in connected processes.
  • Provide advice to Finance, GBS, IT and Procurement leadership on the system/process implications of change.
  • Lead all changes to processes globally to ensure consistency with the global standard operating procedure.
  • Own and maintain process documentation.
  • Provide regular proposals for process improvement based on the knowledge of third-party capability aligned with business requirements.
  • Ensure system changes are appropriately tested and verified before implementation into a live environment.
  • Work with Change & Communication function to ensure training needs and content requirements are met.
  • Lead overall procurement, approval, and receiving business processes and to ensure proper alignment with accounts payable business processes.
  • Drive efficiencies to take cost out the process through automation and service placement recommendations.

How you will get here

Education

  • A bachelor's degree in business or technical field, concentration in Procurement or Supply Chain/Materials Management preferred or equivalent combination of experience and education. Master's degree preferred.

Experience

  • Experience leading, implementing, expanding and evolving Source to Pay platforms in complex global environments.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in Procurement or Sourcing Leadership roles.
  • Experience working across multiple and diverse organizations.
  • Experience in leading process change and development required.
  • Experience using ERP and SaaS solutions.
  • Experience in Lean, VSM and Six Sigma.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Good working knowledge of ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Ariba, Coupa, etc.).
  • Extensive experience of working in a matrix environment.
  • Excellent business procurement and finance knowledge
  • Experience in a global process role with control expertise along Shared Services exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of latest thinking in the Procurement process, and expense management.
  • Track record of influencing multi-functional partners to achieve a positive outcomes
  • Understanding technology platforms across the procurement space including finance.
