Discover Impactful Work:

The post holder will be responsible for handling all Procurement aspects for direct materials. Facilitating the process of selecting and handling PDX suppliers while applying the best Procurement practices.

A Day in the Life:

  • Management of supply issues - working with suppliers to resolve supply issues and provide solutions to mitigate risk. Includes working with Supply Chain to minimise impact to PDX.
  • Supplier Relationship Management - develop a SRM process with key suppliers. Working with internal team members to leverage suppliers and ensure they are providing the required service and products to PDX.
  • Deliver annual savings targets on direct materials in line with corporate strategy.
  • Work with Supply Chain and Planning to reduce inventory levels at PDX and leverage suppliers.
  • Investigate ways to use suppliers to improve the overall supply chain experience for PDX
  • Assist in supplier NCR / SCAR resolutions / Supplier notifications
  • Work with Senior Purchasing Manager and Thermo Fisher Category Managers to develop procurement strategies for key suppliers.
  • Lead the direct materials team on a day-to-day basis

Keys To Success:

Education

  • Graduate level or equivalent
  • MCIPS or working towards (desirable)

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years Procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Life Sciences or other highly regulated industry
  • Continuous Improvement e.g. Lean

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing and procurement processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong negotiation and relationship leadership skills
  • Commercially astute with a proven track record of leading negotiations to a successful conclusion
  • IT skills - high level of proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Office based (Hybrid) with requirements to travel to suppliers and other Thermo Fisher locations.
