Job Description
The Laboratory Products Group (LPG) Legal Counsel plays a key role as a legal contact and member of the LPG Legal team! This role will provide support to the Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD), Laboratory Equipment Division (LED), and Laboratory Plastics Essentials (LPE) businesses in the US and Europe!
What Will You Do?
- Engage in the drafting and negotiation of agreements with pharmaceutical, chemical, academic, research, industrial, and manufacturing companies. These agreements enable the business to sell products and perform services, purchase raw materials and services, license technologies, and handle quality requirements. Additionally, resolve any commercial or legal disputes associated with these agreements.
- Acquire a basic understanding of the regulations and compliance rules in the United States and other regions.
- Collaborate with legal and business teams to develop a compliance program for that aligns with Thermo Fisher policies, procedures, and country-specific laws.
- Partner with compliance colleagues to ensure effective prevention, detection, and remediation of violations of law, regulations, and internal policies.
- Guide employees on laws and policies, responding to inquiries, to ensure compliance with applicable requirements for business planning and activities.
- Implement legal training programs relevant to business matters and contractual obligations
- Partner with business on a variety of commercial and quality matters. Facilitate review and resolution of customer concerns and complaints.
- Support implementation of strategic legal purchasing, quality, commercial, and regulatory initiatives at various sites.

Requirements:
- United States licensed attorney with a J.D. degree or equivalent experience and admission to a state bar. A degree in chemistry and/or life sciences with proven knowledge of contracts law is helpful, but equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Seeking candidates with at least 4 years of legal experience in commercial contracts, ideally in an in-house role or at a full-service law firm.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, robust and hard-working self-starter, phenomenal teammate.
- Ability to address problems of diverse scope and moderate to high complexity.
