At Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., we are seeking a Clinical Sample Analysis Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will conduct a wide variety of clinical laboratory analyses, showcasing your expertise in assays that identify complex disorders of the cardiovascular, endocrine, hematological, hemostatic, thrombolytic, and renal systems. Your capability to assess individual and correlated laboratory data and identify patterns or trends that indicate the significance of results will be vital to the success of our research programs

A day in the Life:

  • Performs, reviews, and interprets complex, esoteric, and routine chemical, hematological, coagulation, renal, lipid, and hormonal analyses by manual, automated, and/or microscopic means.
  • Integrates analytical results with specific and highly varied clinical trial protocols to evaluate credibility, appropriateness, and accuracy of test results.
  • Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs clinical laboratory equipment, ensuring flawless operation and accurate results.
  • Evaluates analytical reagents, calibrators, and QC standards to ensure the accuracy of analytical results.
  • Evaluates quality control procedures, detects trends and problems, and implements corrective action.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree of Science or equivalent experience in a relevant field of study preferred
  • ASCP certification a plus

Experience

  • 1 - 3 years of Lab work or similar environment experience
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Ability to work in an upright and/or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate lab equipment.
  • Occasional mobility needed, including crouching, stooping, bending, and twisting of the upper body and neck.
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 15-20 lbs.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas optimally.
  • Frequently interacts with others to acquire or relate information.
  • Works independently with little mentorship, plans work schedules, and performs under stress.

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Work is performed in a laboratory and/or clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
  • Personal protective equipment is required.
  • Occasional exposure to biological fluids and rare exposure to skin and lung irritants, radiation, toxic materials, and hazardous waste.
  • Rare exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures may occur.
