Job Description

Summary:

This position reports into Engineering. Its primary focus is on applying analytics as the basis for planning and carrying out all phases of the purchasing and procurement process for capital projects. Additionally, the role supports departmental projects and process improvements, project status tracking reports and maintaining vendor data base in Cognibox.

Essential Functions:

Capital Purchasing.

  • Use the Ariba system to place orders, reschedule, and expedite accordingly, ensuring maximum cost/quantity/delivery optimization.
  • Review, track and manage change orders. Ensure purchase orders and inventory are managed to minimize scrap and production downtime.
  • Maintain purchasing data integrity of system by continuously monitoring purchase and item parameters and revision levels.
  • Resolution of Ariba system related issues with Ariba support team
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies with the Accounts Payable team.
  • Generate Monthly Open Purchase order reports

Vendor Maintenance

  • Support quality issues and vendor investigations related to equipment and parts.
  • Support EHS with Safe Contractor-onboarding of new contractors and managing existing contractors via Cognibox database.
  • Facilitate New Vendor set up in Catalyst.

Other duties

  • Interactions with Vendors and internal clients.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards.
  • Generate reports from SAP to monitor expenditures.
  • Manage and organize Capital Project Files within Shared Drives and Physical Libraries
  • Generate monthly Capital Project status reports.
  • Perform any other duties as necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required.

College Diploma in Business or Supply Chain management an asset.

Experience:

Minimum 2 year relevant purchasing and inventory management experience in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.

Working towards Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) considered an asset

Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Supply Chain planning processes including purchasing and inventory management. Advanced Microsoft Office Suites (Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables a must). SAP and Ariba ERP systems experience (Purchasing, Inventory Management Modules) within a manufacturing environment. Developed analytical and quantitative skills. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures. Effective collaboration skills and the ability to comprehend new information rapidly. Highly organized with well-developed time-management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to assume responsibility and take independent action. Results oriented, metrics driven individual with a root cause, proactive, continuous improvement approach that "owns" the processes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency with the English language.

Standards and Expectations:

Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Work collaboratively with fellow team members, modelling positive team principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives. Carry out all duties within strict compliance to quality SOPs and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion. Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.

Physical Requirements:

Light physical effort and fatigue. Walks, sits, or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited duration. Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odours, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. Use of Personal Protective equipment may be required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator on occasionally.
