Position summary

Join our Purchasing and Sourcing team in the Instrument and Enterprise Services (IES) division for an outstanding opportunity. As a Buyer/Planner III, you will be essential in procuring and organizing service materials to meet customer demands. Grow and develop with us as we improve our processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Thermo Fisher's customer satisfaction goals are met or exceeded through the flawless procurement of materials/spare parts aligned with the order plan.
  • Procure service parts to support spare parts needs worldwide, with a primary focus on the European Distribution Centre (EDC).
  • Proactively identify and manage areas of supply risk, strictly monitoring supplier developments that may affect material supply and taking appropriate measures.
  • Build and maintain world-class relationships with suppliers of service parts, ensuring tactical procurement meets IES requirements.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including regular review meetings to discuss performance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with other IES Supply Chain departments (Logistics, Demand Planning, Master Data, Sourcing) to resolve issues, determine solutions, and drive process optimization.
  • Support field service technicians by providing delivery status updates and accelerating critical material deliveries to meet committed timelines.
  • Review and evaluate supplier compliance with service level agreements, particularly focusing on delivery times.
  • Exhibit demonstrated sourcing expertise to achieve overall cost reductions and contribute to efficiency improvement programs.
  • Support all vital lifecycle activities, including obsolescence, discontinuation, and new part introductions.
  • Compare orders, order confirmations, and ASNs, maintaining data integrity in SAP or databases.
  • Ensure the maintenance of critical material master fields such as efficiency and MRP type.
  • Participate in and initiate process improvements using the PPI methodology.
  • Tackle special tasks and projects within the IES Supply Chain as needed.

Key Requirements:

  • Ideally, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or further vocational training (e.g., APICS, CIPS, BME) or comparable extensive experience in the supply chain environment.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain principles and material management in an international, fast-paced setting.
  • Outstanding analytical skills including data gathering, interpretation, and problem-solving.
  • Experience with the complexities of a service organization and spare parts supply chain is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in coordinating and balancing multiple tasks, taking initiative, problem-solving, and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Excel, and Outlook is essential.
