Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-4 years previous Procurement/Planning required.
  • Experience with SAP, E1, Microsoft Office software including Work and Excel.
  • Experience working within regulated industry (ISO 13485) and/or cGMP environment
  • 2-3 years working in a highly regulated environment and/or life-sciences industry preferred
  • Experience working in a global enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
  • CPIM or C.P.M or CSCP or equivalent certification preferred
  • Experience using lean / 6-sigma tools

We are seeking a highly motivated Procurement professional for Thermo Fisher Scientific Frederick site to procure goods and services in conformance with approved procedures at the best total cost with considerations for quality, reliability of source and vitality of need. Provides support for all aspects of procurement supplier negotiations, vendor analysis, cost reductions, expediting of orders and vendor relations.

  • Ability to develop and provide reports to satisfy ongoing inventory management needs.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to optimally communicate critical information.
  • Strong problem solving and reasoning skills to optimally take care of problems varying in complexity relative to job level
  • In depth knowledge of planning and purchasing systems.
  • Solid understanding of regulated supply chains; to include ISO, GMP, and FDA regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of concepts of inventory flow throughout the supply chain.
  • Able to function in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Key Deliverables/Goals: purchase price variance, on-time delivery, inventory targets, continuity of supply, Delivery and payment terms.
  • Implement Supply Agreements with key vendors
  • Negotiates pricing, terms and conditions which are not managed by the commodity management teams, within established limitations and scope of authority to obtain the most favorable business partnerships, including but not limited to quality, availability and cost.
  • Uses proactive approach and ensures data accuracy for all purchasing parameters in the ERP system
  • Creates and maintains mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement, usually being the single-point-of-contact for the vendor
  • Investigates and recommends new vendors
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to junior members of the purchasing team.
  • Observe supplier performance, communicates and takes action to maintain high levels of supplier performance.
  • Works across internal functions and external contacts to resolve supplier performance issues
  • Support or lead continuous improvement events to reduce cost, increase efficiency, streamline the way we do business
  • Takes initiative to resolve supply constraints and maybe required to lead/manage projects
  • Use MRP to maintain continuous material availability to support production plans.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $70,000.00-$115,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
