Position Summary:
The Biological Safety and EHS Advisor will report into the site EHS Manager and assist them in the day to day running of the sites' EHS department. This will include both the sites' biological requirements as well as meeting all EHS legislation responsibilities.
This role will ensure that the facility has the required permits and approvals in place from the local authorities regarding Genetically Modified Materials (GMO's). Ensuring that a safe system of work for activities with Biological Materials including all risk assessments and procedures are in place. Other important aspects of the position include collaborating closely with internal customers and departments to ensure the EHS performance meets all current statutory, regulatory and company safety and quality standards and associated or subscribed standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter support on the site's biological requirements in regards to GMO related issues.
- Drive improvements to EHS culture through Continual Process Improvement.
- Fulfil the role of Biological Safety Officer (BSO) ensuring all legal requirements and licensing is in place for biological work.
- Have detailed knowledge of Biological Hazards.
- Support the EHS manager in all EHS requirements.
- Lead biological safety committee meetings.
- Efficiently development the risk assessment program for biological material.
Desired Requirements/Qualifications:
- BSO course.
- Previous experience in EHS.
- A NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Pharmaceutical/cGMP experience.
- Digital Literacy
