Location/Division Specific Information

Our PPD® Laboratory Services team has a direct impact on improving patient health through the expertise of scientists, industry thought-leaders and therapeutic experts. As the world leader in serving science, our laboratory professionals bring their commitment to accuracy and quality to deliver groundbreaking innovations.

Discover Impactful Work:

Provides implementation, operational and maintenance support for enterprise software applications. Maintains a stable systems environment with minimal downtime and maximum performance. For the Labs, this also includes support for analytical software and associated dedicated hardware as well as administrative support for server based laboratory applications.

A Day In The Life:

  • Fields and triages application-specific support issues.
  • Complete change requests and qualifications.
  • Maintains system documentation.
  • Liaises with and assists senior staff and other internal groups for issue escalation.

Education

  • High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Technical positions may require a certificate
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to at least 2 years) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.

Years of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Familiarity with desktop operating systems and desktop productivity applications (MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio, etc)
  • The ability to diagnose problems, define/resolve/coordinate the implementation of solutions with other groups
  • The ability to troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of application problems working with senior staff.
  • Self-motivated with the initiative to see issue resolution through to completion
  • Business focused approach with strong interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude with a commitment to a high quality of work
  • Ability to learn new technical skills

  • Work is performed in an office/ laboratory/clinical/and/or home office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
  • For Labs-based staff travel up to 60-80% of time, domestically with extended overnight stays.
  • Light/occassional travel for corporate-based staff.
  • For Labs-based staff, exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.
  • For Labs-based staff, personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves.
  • Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions
