We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Application Scientist to join our team. The Application Scientist will be responsible for supporting proteomics research through the application of mass spectrometry techniques and providing technical expertise. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

How you will make an impact:

This role requires dedication to drive science, ability to multitask, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of scientists in a fast-paced environment.

What you will do:

Technical Expertise:

  • Provide expert knowledge in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, including sample preparation, data acquisition, and data analysis.
  • Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods and protocols for proteomics applications.
  • Operate and maintain mass spectrometry instruments (e.g., LC-MS/MS) and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to ensure smooth laboratory operations.

Research Support:

  • Collaborate with researchers to craft and implement proteomics experiments, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Analyze and interpret proteomics data, ensuring high accuracy and reproducibility.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to researchers, assisting them in understanding and applying proteomics technologies effectively.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in proteomics and mass spectrometry technologies.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate and manage multiple research projects, ensuring timely completion of project achievements and deliverables.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments, protocols, and data analysis.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and data summaries to the research team and collaborators.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research publications, grant applications, and presentations.

Training and Mentorship:

  • Coordinate seminars and workshops to share standard processes and new methodologies in proteomics research.
    • Provide ongoing support and guidance to lab personnel to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure data integrity and reliability.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) while promoting effective practices.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain high standards of laboratory practice.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive lab environment that promotes teamwork and scientific excellence.
  • Communicate experimental results, progress, and outcomes to the research team and collaborators.
  • Represent the lab at scientific conferences, meetings, and workshops.

How you will get here:

Education:

  • Minimum Master's degree in chemistry, biology, or related field with 5+ years of experience is required.
  • Ph.D. degree with 2+ years is preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomics.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining mass spectrometry instruments. Familiarity with Thermo Orbitrap instrumentation and experience in MS-based proteomics is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of proteomics workflows, including sample preparation, data acquisition, and data analysis.
  • Experience with proteomics data analysis software and bioinformatics tools.
  • Ability to learn and assist in development of new protocols/technologies

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $90,900.00-$121,200.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
