We are seeking an Accountant III to join our team. The position is a hybrid role within the Clinical Trials Division of the Pharma Services Group of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., based in Rockville, MD - 14665 Rothgeb Drive.

A day in the Life:

  • Assist in ensuring financial integrity of trial balance which supports the timely internal/external financial reporting.
  • Assist in month/quarterly/year-end closing.
  • Assist in reviewing balance sheet and trial balance analysis.
  • Prepare journal entries; maintain and reconcile more complex general ledger accounts.
  • Financial resource to manage and reconcile intercompany activities with other Thermo Fisher groups, support accrual posting and analysis, accounting analysis of rent/leasing activities, and other areas (payroll and/or AP) as directed.
  • Support the review, maintenance and improvement of internal controls as it relates to the financial system, accounts and processes used in financial reporting.
  • May provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational managers to help them understand and manage their financial responsibilities.
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance with all accounting regulations.
  • Respond to audit requests timely with accurate and complete support for both internal and external audits.
  • Support or lead special projects as needed.
  • Sales and Use tax management/reporting.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • 5 plus years previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Previous financial accounting experience with strong technical accounting knowledge and application of financial principles.
  • High level of proactivity to drive continuous improvement of processes and system utilization.
  • Flexible and adaptable - with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills to interact at various levels inside and outside the organization
  • Adaptable to utilization of ERP and/or database driven platforms.
  • Demonstrates collaboration ethic
  • Capable to understand sophisticated organizational structures and environments
  • Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Excel

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $83,300.00-$125,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
