Description

The Social Media internship is all about giving you real-world experience while helping our team find creative and unique ways to tell the Port Authority's story: how we move the New York and New Jersey metropolitan region by air, land, rail and sea and play a major role in being an economic engine to the region's vitality. You'll be part of the Social Media Marketing team, working on identifying social trends, writing copy, capturing photo and video assets and actively prepare posts for publishing on our various social platforms (most notably Instagram). Additionally, you'll gain experience collaborating with other inter-department teams to prepare and finalize your work.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor social media conversation across the web, develop social content (including writing and visuals)
  • Research social media trends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester

Desired Qualifications

  • Self-starter and the ability to work well independently.
  • Demonstrated writing ability.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Photoshop and Microsoft applications, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral communication
  • Interpersonal and organization skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Internet use and research
  • Basic knowledge of e-communication development and knowledge of social media channels including the use of X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other online tools and networking sites

Internship Details

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025
  • The internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025
  • This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)
  • The format is expected to be hybrid, partially in-person and partially virtual

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $29.57 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
