About the Internship
The JFK Security Operations team is chiefly responsible for oversight of the Aviation Security Programs at JFK which have varied regulatory requirements and volume. JFK Security develops and implements security policies, plans, programs and systems that deter, prevent, detect, and respond to likely security threats to JFK.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research of TSA security regulations and industry best practices.
- Assist with the planning/conducting the Annual AVSEC TTX exercises.
- Assist the Airport Security Credentialing Office with improving processing times, community outreach, including assisting in the monthly security awareness campaign, and Authorized Signatory meetings.
- Daily outreach to Authorized Signatories to improve badge processing times.
- Assist with statistical analysis of badging data
- Compile and disseminate daily activity reports
- Assist with file management
- Assist in the review of various standard operating procedures.
- Perform additional tasks as requested to include white papers, power point presentations, etc.
- Compile minutes for various meetings such as the monthly Authorized Signatory meetings and other security meetings
- Assist with contract administration by means of reviewing invoices and tracking expenses
- Perform general task as required by the Airport Security Manager or his/her designee.

Qualifications:
- Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester
- Rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate-level student
- Major Aviation (Management, Security, or Safety), Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Business, Management, Information Systems, or a related field
Desired:
- Ability to meet deadlines, work independently or within a team, and prioritize work
- Strong interpersonal skills
Internship Details:
- The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- The format is expected to be fully in-person

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $27.21 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
