Description
The Internal Communications internship is an exciting opportunity to support the Port Authority's mission by supporting its dedicated, talented, and diverse workforce. You'll build skills in: written communications; website management; content strategy; event planning and outreach; project management; and creative problem-solving while getting an inside look at almost every aspect of the agency's business and collaborating with colleagues across departments. By the end of the summer, you'll have a portfolio of internal marketing materials and campaigns as well as a deeper knowledge of public service, transportation, infrastructure, and the important role the Port Authority plays in the bistate region.

- Collaborate with Marketing staff and other Port Authority stakeholders on internal communications content development designed to educate and engage the agency's approximately 8,000 employees.
- Work within weekly deadlines for internal e-blasts and newsletters as well as longer-term campaign-based projects
- Assist team in updating and developing content for the employee website and digital signage
- Assist team in developing, implementing and staffing employee-facing events, both in-person and virtual.
- Track and analyze success of the agency's internal communications efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2025 semester (August 2025 or beyond)
- Major in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Rhetoric or a related field.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with graphic design software is a plus.
- Content creation and writing experience; familiarity with online content management systems such as Adobe Experience Manager.
- Previous internships, course work or extracurriculars using Communications and Marketing skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently; comfortable with critical thinking, problem-solving and project management.
Internship Details
- The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025
- The internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025
- This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)
- The format is expected to be hybrid

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $29.57 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
