About the Internship
As a reporting Department to the Chief Financial Officer, the Comptroller's Department is a team of dedicated professionals who ensure the accuracy of the Port Authority's finances. As part of the Comptroller's Department team, you will gain insight and experience surrounding the agency's financial structure and internal control processes as well as knowledge of the operations of our various lines of business, giving you extensive opportunities for a long-term career at the Port Authority.
Under the Corporate Accounting section of the Department, the Fixed Asset Accounting Division consistently applies accounting principles to agency's fixed assets, including classifying project expenditures as either capital or operating; maintains current and historical fixed asset and investment records, and facilitates the timely transfer of work-in-progress to complete construction; and develops capital investment information to support various lease and cost recovery agreements.

Responsibilities
- Research permits
- Create assets
- Prepare and process monthly settlements
- Process retirements
- Review monthly Code 5 (projects currently in suspension)
- Prepare depreciation variance analysis
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester
- Major in Accounting

- Ability to work independently
Internship Details
- The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- The format is expected to be hybrid

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $27.21 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
