About the Internship
The purpose of the internship is to gain real-world experience in accounting practices and take on tasks in the Port Authority's Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) Division within Comptroller's Department. While working in FAR, you will be exposed to different areas such as debt, portfolio, employee benefits, insurance and grants.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cash and insurance reconciliations
- Review of debt transactions and schedules
- Review of portfolio transactions and schedules.
- Review and update benefits and insurance schedules
- Review and prepare the Port Authority of Schedule of Federal Awards
- Analyze grants from federal and state agencies
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Maintain the general ledger accounts in our system

Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester
- Major in Accounting or a related field
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of accounting principles
- Experience with Microsoft (Word and Excel) and System Applications and Products (SAP)
Internship Details
- The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- The format is expected to be hybrid.

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $27.21 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
