Senior Engineer Quality Assurance (Vertical Transportation)

About the Role

Responsible to function as the PA's building department representative within Engineering QAD for new and existing Vertical Transportation systems. Participate during acceptance inspection and testing before placing the units in service. Recommend the issuance of a Permit to Occupy or Use for new installation. Attend annual inspections and testing of existing equipment for both PA and tenant-maintained equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect new VT systems to ensure conformance with the approved design documents.
  • Participate during testing of new Elevators, Escalators, Moving Walkways, and Dumb waiters to ensure conformity to the applicable codes.
  • Document non-conforming construction comments and follow up for satisfactory disposition.
  • Perform annual inspection and testing of existing VT systems to document nonconforming items and recommend whether the equipment is operating safely and can remain in use

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years inspection and testing experience of new Elevators and Escalators
  • 3 years maintenance and repair experience of existing Elevators and Escalators
  • 3 years working knowledge of applicable codes for inspection and testing of VT systems.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • QEI Certification
  • Valid Driver's license

Desired Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited college or university
  • Professional Engineering and/or Registered Architect License in NY & NJ
