About the Role

The Office of Continuous Improvement (OCI) collaborates with staff across the Port Authority to improve business processes, increase efficiency, reduce costs, enhance customer experience, and foster innovation, collaboration, and accountability in alignment with the Authority's priorities and standards. The Office uses Lean and design thinking tools to solve problems, achieve measurable impact, and institutionalize continuous improvement mindsets and practices.

OCI seeks a Senior Continuous Improvement Analyst. Primary responsibilities include leading and facilitating continuous improvement projects in close coordination with partner line and staff departments.

  • Lead and facilitate projects through the continuous improvement cycle, including:
    • Project scoping (problem statement development, stakeholder consensus building, work plan development)
    • Project prep work (data collection, collecting customer and employee feedback and perspective, process mapping, observations)
    • Solution development (workshop facilitation, data analysis, defining roles and responsibilities, building out and prioritizing recommendations)
    • Implementation (workflow development, as an example)
    • Performance metric development and tracking of progress.
  • Co-develop and co-lead CI trainings and other programming for staff across the agency, as a part of internal CI capacity-building program
  • Support OCI program administration (e.g., budgeting and/or procurement processes)

The Senior Continuous Improvement Analyst will report to the Supervising Management Analyst and work closely with all staff on the Office of Continuous Improvement team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must meet the following educational and work experience requirements:

  • Master's degree highly desired, preferably in Public Administration, Planning, Industrial Engineering, Business, or Organizational Psychology, from an accredited college or university, and three (3) years of relevant work experience, demonstrating growth in operations, business management, technology strategy, project management, analysis, planning, or policy.
  • Bachelor's degree in above mentioned discipline and five (5) years relevant work experience demonstrating growth.
  • In lieu of college degrees, you must have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant and progressive work experience.
  • Relevant and progressive experience must show growth in operations, business management, technology strategy, project management, analysis, planning, or policy.
  • Demonstrated strength in problem solving, process improvement, and change management.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strong project management skills with the ability to establish and execute plans, set priorities, coordinate activities, delegate tasks, manage time, and multi-task.
  • Analytical mindset with demonstrated data analysis experience, the ability to use data to help define and solve for problems, and a desire to further develop analytical capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience working on interdepartmental initiatives, and strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be persuasive with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication across all levels of staff.
