About the Role
This position reports to the Manager, Construction Standards Unit, Quality Assurance Division. This is a supervisory position that manages, coordinates and trains multiple staff members. The selected candidate will review and approve staff field audit reports and provide guidance, as needed, to staff. In addition, as needed attend scheduled inspections and testing of life safety systems to support the JFK Redevelopment projects.
Responsibilities
- Assigns staff to attend acceptance inspections/tests of all new construction, including, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Architectural and Electrical Engineering disciplines during stage IV at JFK Airport.
- Ensures that all work has been completed in accordance with the approved contract documents and applicable codes for both Port Authority contracts and Tenant Alterations.
- Apply technical knowledge and experience during acceptance inspections and tests of various types of construction and systems, as applicable.
- Supervising Port Authority staff and consultants to audit field records, including Special inspections Reports and Engineer's Certification documentation.
- This is a Project Position. The selected candidate will work on-site full time at JFK Airport, Queens New York.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in architecture/engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Ten years of related field experience.
- Familiarity with the NYC building codes and other applicable construction codes and standards.
- Valid Driver's License
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrates experience in working independently, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to guide technical staff in performing architectural review for code compliance.
- Proficiency and effectiveness in written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple Port Authority Departments and external consultants and contractors.
- Self-motivated and experienced in working in a team environment.
- Professional Engineering License.
- Proficient in the use of various computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
