The Opportunity

We are looking for an accomplished Manager to join our Compliance Operations team as part of our financial services business in the Cayman Islands.

 

The Cayman Islands is home to our global headquarters and where the Maples Group first established operations in the 1960s.  Since then, we have grown to become one of the largest employers in Cayman, where colleagues from all over the world collaborate to deliver best-in-class solutions to clients worldwide. As part of our Cayman team, you will:

 

  • Lead and supervise a team of analysts who are responsible for various tasks including reviewing new client onboardings and existing clients and their activities in line with their risk review periods or upon a triggering event to ensure that data, documents, and other CDD information remains current and aligns to regulatory requirements;
  • Monitor the team’s performance against KPIs, monitor workflows to ensure deliverables are completed in a timely manner, and deliver reporting to key stakeholders;
  • Have a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory requirements and support development of training for the team to ensure adherence to regulation and Maples Group internal policies and procedures;
  • Be highly comfortable with technology and ensure the team has a thorough understanding of the systems utilised to perform day-to-day activities;
  • Monitor data accuracy and lead remediation projects where required;
  • Establish strong communication and relationships with key stakeholders through liaising with members of the Maples Group, clients, investors and other third parties in various international jurisdictions;
  • Monitor day to day administration as well as team activities, including leave requests, and monitoring performance standards; and
  • Support ad hoc requests and projects as may be required from time to time.

 

What You Bring

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

 

  • A university degree and at least five years relevant experience in a compliance role, including two years of management experience;
  • A post-graduate and/or AML qualification would be an advantage;
  • A detailed understanding of all forms of alternative investment structures and a comprehensive knowledge of relevant local and international regulatory requirements;
  • Very strong analytical skills with the ability to read and interpret documentation in line with specific requirements;
  • Attention to detail, professionalism, excellent organisational skills, and a team-first mentality;
  • Ability to be a self-starter, able to handle a diverse workload;
  • Effective communication skills with experience of relationship management and client service;
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation, and communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications; and
  • The flexibility to work overtime at short notice and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and meet strict deadlines.
