The Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialist plays a key part in optimizing our digital presence across key content areas to improve organic search visibility and drive web traffic and increase pageviews. Working closely with content marketing leadership, stakeholders, and teams, this individual develops and executes SEO strategies to enhance the company's online visibility, increase rankings on search engine result pages (SERPs), and maximize organic traffic.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise projects through task management, organization, and disciplined follow-up, creatively problem-solving and collaborating with external teams, leadership, key stakeholders, and internal team members.
  • Conduct keyword research to identify target keywords and phrases with high search volume and relevance.
  • Develop and execute link-building strategies to increase domain authority and improve search engine rankings.
  • Perform technical SEO audits of existing and newly published digital content to identify issues affecting website performance and develop solutions to improve factors including crawlability, indexability, and site speed.
  • Work with content strategy team during their audits of existing content to identify and retroactively address any critical SEO-related issues, updating relevant CMS fields as necessary to improve search performance.
  • Monitor and analyze website performance using SEO tools and analytics platforms.
  • Generate regular reports on SEO performance metrics, trends, insights, and recommendations for improvement to share with content strategy leadership, stakeholders, and creators.
  • Remain well-informed about the foremost industry trends, news developments, algorithm updates, and most current SEO best practices, and regularly share knowledge and insights with relevant teams and stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough audits of the publication's existing content, covering elements including brand voice, relevance, quality and currency, internal linking and categorization, performance, keyword and search gaps, etc.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including content creators, content strategy teams/stakeholders, web developers, designers, and data analysts, to implement SEO best practices across different areas of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in SEO, digital marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully improving organic search rankings and driving measurable results.
  • Deep understanding of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and technical SEO principles.
  • Proficiency and experience in SEO tools and analytics platforms, such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Mox, and/or Ahrefs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to interpret data, identify trends, develop insights, and make effective data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to simultaneously track and support multiple complex projects in a fast-paced and changeable environment, with flexibility and willingness to address new project needs as they arise, while still maintaining close attention to detail.
  • Capacity to work well both in collaborative, team settings and independently to achieve goals and adhere to timelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, build relationships, and work constructively with a diverse range of partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Master's degree and/or other relevant certifications.

The pay scale the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting is $93,000 to $102,000 and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, training, licenses, certifications, and other business or organizational needs. Compensation will be determined based on the above factors along with the requirements of the position. At the L.A. Times Studios, LLC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

The Company is a mandatory vaccination employer for COVID-19 and its variants. The Company requires that its employees be fully vaccinated as of their start date.
