The Position

New York Yankees Baseball Summer Camp is five days of baseball instruction and competition within our custom-built curriculum for all children ages 5-13. We are looking for a Camp & Safety Coordinator, as part of our on-site leadership team, to oversee and ensure the physical, social, and emotional safety of all campers and staff. The Camp and Safety Coordinator will also be the main on-site driver of the overall look and feel of our camp programming, leading the charge on camp set-up and New York Yankees brand presentation. We provide the training, resources and equipment for a successful and safe camp but need you to bring your knowledge and expertise of up to date first-aid procedures, commitment to camp safety protocols, enthusiasm, leadership and dedication to our campers, their families and the Yankees brand to camp each day.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee and ensure the day-to-day safety of all program participants and staff, acting as the on-site expert and enforcer of camp safety protocols.
  • Be the first responder for all safety-related issues and injuries on site, as well as low and high priority emergency medical situations, utilizing CPR/First Aid training as necessary.
  • Review daily medication and allergy reports to prepare individual care plans for campers and implement them effectively.
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with the Communications and Customer Experience Coordinator, ensuring that all families are kept informed about their camper’s health and safety while at camp.
  • Work alongside Site Leader to ensure clean and organized camp set up, representing the Yankees brand in a positive and professional light.
  • Maintain order of the equipment storage trailer and regularly inventory and organize supplies, equipment, technology, and camp uniforms.
  • Represent the Yankees professionally and respectfully throughout all facets of your day to campers, parents, site and facility partners and any guests you encounter while on the clock and in uniform.
  • Be a loyal, dedicated and responsible team member who consistently shows up on time and ready to work for the campers and the rest of your team.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the camp’s Site Leader.

About You

  • Possess 3 years of knowledge and skills earned at an accredited undergraduate institution (majors in athletic training, nursing or medicine viewed favorably) or other equivalent experience in the medical/health field.
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an athletic or education setting and/ safety related role and an understanding of the importance of safety and first aid within the camp environment.
  • Passionate about top-of-the-line programming and brand presentation and making a positive impact on the lives of children, families, and coaches.
  • Committed to the camp mission, top notch program quality, the rest of your team, our campers, and their families for the full duration of the summer camp season.
  • Possess valid CPR/First Aid Certification, or able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification prior to the start of camp.
  • Able to remain upright and standing for multiple hours at a time, to walk and/or run quickly around large outdoor grass and dirt-covered fields, and ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. of sports equipment.
  • Committed to adhering to the Yankees Summer Camp Cell-Phone Free policy, powering down and putting away cell phones for the duration of your shift.

Additional Camp Information

  • Time Commitment: Available for pre-camp trainings and all weeks of programming.
  • Camp Dates & Locations: June 17th – August 16th, no camp the week of July 1st.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:15 am-3:45 pm.
  • Compensation: $18.00 / hour with up to 2.5 hours of overtime expected per week paid at $27/hour.
  • Extended Employment Opportunities: Hitting and fielding small-group lessons Monday – Thursday from 3:15 – 4:00 pm (paid at $43.75 per lesson).
