The Position
Nationals Baseball and Softball Summer Camps is five days of fun, baseball and softball instruction, and competition within our custom-built curriculum for all children ages 5-13. We are looking for baseball and softball coaches who attack each day with enthusiasm for the sport and the opportunity to inspire youth players, unlocking their personal best. These coaches possess the ability to communicate and connect with a variety of ages, interests, and skill levels while approaching each day’s unique challenges with energy, and patience. We provide the training, baseball curriculum & daily camp schedules along with all equipment for a successful camp day but need you to bring camp to life with your enthusiasm, dedication and un-matched energy.

What You'll Do
- Mentor, coach and guide a team of campers through pre-written baseball and softball curriculum and game play, fostering a respectful and positive atmosphere, while engaging campers throughout the day with high energy, integrity and passion.
- Nurture physical, social & emotional safety of all campers by consistently implementing all camp protocols, forming connections with each camper within your group and fostering a supportive team environment
- Represent the Washington Nationals professionally and respectfully throughout all facets of your day to campers, parents, site and facility partners and any guests you encounter while on the clock and in uniform.
- Be a loyal, dedicated and responsible team member who consistently shows up on time and ready to work for the campers and the rest of your team.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by camp leadership.
About You
- Experience playing and/or coaching baseball and/or softball (2 years at a competitive level – travel ball, high school, college and beyond - viewed favorably).
- Experience working with children in a camp, school or sport setting (2 years preferred).
- Passionate about baseball and making a positive impact in the lives of children and families.
- Committed to the camp’s mission, program quality, and a supportive team environment throughout the camp season.
- Diligent, reliable and willing to learn.
- Able to remain upright and standing for multiple hours at a time, to walk and/or run quickly around large outdoor grass and dirt-covered fields, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of sports equipment.
- Committed to adhering to the Nationals Camp Cell-Phone Free policy, powering down and putting away cell phones for the duration of your shift.

Additional Camp Information
- Camp Dates & Locations: June 16th – August 15th, no camp the week of July 4th
- Camps will take place in Washington D.C., Maryland, and/or Virginia

- Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am-3:30 pm
- Compensation: $17.50 / hour
- Extended Employment Opportunities: Hitting and fielding small-group lessons Monday – Friday from 3:15 - 4:00 pm (paid at $43.75 per lesson), PM Aftercare Coach. (Any worked time after 40.0 hours is paid at 1.5x the agreed upon hourly wage.)
