Sr Consult Bus Data Analysis - Global Specialty
The Actuarial Information Services Department's Global Specialty team is looking for a skilled Sr. Business Data Consultant to join us. The ideal candidate will possess strong Global Specialty business knowledge and demonstrate excellent analytical and research abilities. Our team delivers Global Specialty data to internal business partners. We support Enterprise Wide and Actuarial initiatives by providing expertise in Global Specialty data knowledge. This role is essential for ensuring high quality and timely data reporting to internal business partners.

To excel in this role, you will need exceptional communication skills, experience in data analysis and strong SQL abilities to gather required data from various data sources for requirements gathering. You will engage with a diverse array of business partners, including actuarial teams, finance departments and IT partners across the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
- Apply strong functional knowledge and elicitation techniques necessary to draw out data and analytics for business requirements completely and accurately from stakeholders.
- Independently performs rigorous data analysis, data discovery and data profiling using industry standard querying tools to support business requirements development that are complete, clear, unambiguous, well written and appropriate for the audience.
- Maintain data mapping documents, business matrix and/or other data design artifacts that define business data requirements and transformation rules.
- Act as a liaison and SME between various players - actuarial teams, business partners and technical resources (AIS / IT).
- Effectively communicate project/deliverables status to internal leadership as well as customers of all levels, across a variety of cross functional areas.
- Interact with other business intelligence/data management teams across the enterprise to share knowledge, drive continual improvement to our data structures, tools, process and team.
- Coordinate with others across the Enterprise to identify alternate data sources and tools that may help bring valuable information to business partners.
- Identify areas of opportunity to improve or enhance existing data processes.
- Put in practice, well developed data analysis techniques with the ability to apply these practically and appropriately to help solve complex issues.
- Foster a positive work environment by exemplifying cultural values and encouraging others to promote collaboration, accountability, diversity and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in business requirements or data analysis supporting the Insurance industry and data warehouse or reporting/analytic projects.
- Strong critical thinking skills and analytical ability.
- Proficient in industry standard querying tools.
- Proven ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a timeline driven environment.
- Knowledge or familiarity with dimensional database structure.
- Excellent facilitation, requirements elicitation and data analysis skills.
- Experience with mentoring and leading other Business Analyst or Data Analyst.
- Advanced business acumen with technical aptitude.
- Forward looking and focused on continuous improvement.
- Detail oriented with strong communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal).
- Strong Global Specialty Insurance knowledge.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$98,480 - $147,720
