Senior Copywriter

There are a lot of different writers out there. We're looking for a true copywriter who ideally comes from the agency world. Someone who knows how to write for different mediums including video. Someone who wants to join other agency types and create on the inside at our in-house agency. As part of the team you'll get to work with some very talented, genuine people that include ex-agency creative directors, art-directors and copywriters who have a passion for big thinking and ideas without the need for big egos.

We create everything from videos and advertising to collateral, events, environmental design and more.

And we want someone who knows how to:

  • Partner with an art director/designer to develop on-strategy, on-brand concepts, copy and scripts
  • Participate in input sessions, asking insightful questions to help uncover brilliant ideas
  • Present ideas to creative leadership, manage feedback and deliver great work
  • Work through strategic challenges that tap into your experience and insights
  • Stay connected to your work to ensure a flawless finish
  • Provide copywriting support for a range of clients and project types
  • Participate as a collaborative problem-solver
  • Communicate constructively and actively listen
  • Treat others in a respectful, supportive and professional manner
  • Willingly and openly, cooperate and pitch in to help
  • Ask great questions of the creative and account leads to help understand strategies or fill information gaps

Qualifications

  • A portfolio/website needs to be included in your resume
  • Strong conceptual experience and capabilities
  • Able to challenge conventional copy approaches with new tactics and innovative executions
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Solid foundation of critical thinking skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience at an external agency or in-house agency required
  • Prior experience developing advertising and collateral
  • Video concepting and script writing is a plus
  • Understands the nuances when writing for different media and audience types
  • Actively learns new techniques to be more proficient in your persuasion skills
  • Clear and effective communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to review creative briefs to ensure full understanding of the objectives
  • Pragmatic creative thinker that consistently keeps an eye on the objectives of the assignment
  • Maintains accuracy and always delivers on time

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Hartford, CT office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$77,520 - $116,280
