Small Commercial New Business Development Representative

The New Business Development Representative (NBDR) will support Small Commercial's New Business growth objectives by providing large account and book commitment quoting support to our agents, partnering with their assigned Sales territories to drive and issue large account business.

This is a remote opportunity that can be located anywhere within the US.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with assigned Sales territories to assist in large account quoting to ensure the highest percentage of eligible business transfers to The Hartford.

    • This involves pre-screening business based on eligibility, obtaining pertinent underwriting and rating information (e.g., experience modifications, supplemental applications, driver information, MVR's, building updates, cost estimators, exclusion forms, etc.), updating appropriate internal systems, quoting and issuing policies, and providing assistance to assigned Sales partners as needed.
    • Sell The Hartford's advantages and offer appropriate recommendations to close the sale.
  • Work directly with identified agencies to assist in quoting and issuing BQC (book quoting commitment) business to The Hartford.

    • This involves partnering with Sales to pre-screen defined book of business based on eligibility, foster positive relationship with agents participating in BQC to ensure smooth process, positive agency experience, and issuing highest percentage of eligible business. This also involves efficiently and effectively obtaining pertinent underwriting and rating information from agency, quoting the BQC business, and partnering with Sales to issue business.
    • Additional BQC responsibilities include identifying opportunities to improve BQC performance and process, and working with Sales, Underwriting, and/or agency partners to improve outcomes.
  • Work with a selected group of agencies to increase new business policy counts and premium through the elimination of "ease of doing business" barriers via account quoting support.

    • Consistently review performance, and identify & implement opportunities to improve outcomes.
  • Accountability to achieve goals through new business issued premium via the above areas of support. Proactively engage with assigned Sales territories to drive large account business to The Hartford.
  • Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with assigned Sales territories to drive business to NBDR to ensure highest percentage of eligible business transfers to The Hartford.
  • Identify, implement, execute, and measure results of alternative sales support processes through 'test and learn' projects or initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial Insurance, ideally in a sales-oriented position
  • Hartford Small Commercial Product and Underwriting knowledge
  • ICON experience preferred
  • Initiative and proven track record to achieve or exceed growth goals
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Adaptability to change and ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$58,640 - $87,960
