The Hartford's Enterprise Billing and Audit organization seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer to help transform the Premium Audit landscape. This role involves working in an agile team with architects and business teams to design and develop new capabilities for existing applications.

Solutions should adhere to Hartford's architectural standards, business requirements, technology roadmaps, and industry trends. The goal is to enhance customer experience and speed to market while ensuring flexibility and scalability for the Enterprise Billing and Premium Audit Strategic Roadmap. Candidates should have experience delivering stable, performant, and secure technical solutions, along with strong technical acumen, leadership, partnership, and collaboration skills.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience with Java and J2EE technologies (Java Web Services, XML, JSON, JDBC) and creating end-to-end solutions using Oracle, Java, and UNIX.
  • Proficient in writing and using APIs, with experience in Web Services (SOAP and REST) using Java Spring Boot, hosted in OCP.
  • Experience with AWS, including building, deploying, and migrating applications to the cloud.
  • Front-end skills in Angular or React are a plus.
  • Ability to leverage architectural standards and maintain application integrity in collaboration with architects and tech leads.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing scalable, reusable, secure, and cost-efficient software architecture patterns.
  • Participate in security assessments and provide strategic direction for addressing vulnerabilities.
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to collaborate with various interfacing systems.
  • Collaborate across Billing and Premium Audit areas, including maintenance, production support, and cloud migration teams.
  • Understand technology trade-offs for optimal customer value delivery.
  • Review well-abstracted, reusable code for all components.
  • Knowledge of software development practices, including DevSecOps and CI/CD toolchains (GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, uDeploy, Rally, Checkmarx).
  • Experience with Unix, shell scripting, pro*C for MQ jobs, SQL loader, SQL scripts, Perl script, and Java Spring Boot batches.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and observability to detect and address abnormal system behaviors.
  • Present new ideas to leadership and contribute to team learning.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for supported software applications.
  • Share development guidelines and best practices with team members.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide clear communication about potential risks, mitigations, and business impacts.
  • Drive innovation by leveraging technology to solve customer problems.

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$126,160 - $189,240
