As a National Accounts Senior Executive Underwriter at The Hartford, you'll be responsible for underwriting the casualty lines for accounts with typically more than 500 employees, which are written utilizing loss sensitive plans, such as Large Deductibles and Self-Insured Retentions. You will assist the Field Team in underwriting new business opportunities from brokers and agents, as well as manage a renewal book of business. You'll rigorously analyze underwritten information to assess and price risk for each account and new business opportunities. As a National Accounts Senior Executive Underwriter, you will be responsible for collaborating with your field team in underwriting portfolio management and growth in your assigned territory while maintaining strong returns and profitability.

Responsibilities:
- Identify and analyze information on risks' operations and key exposures/controls. Determining what additional information is necessary to perform a thorough analysis.
- Identify and analyze loss trends and understanding sources of loss information and differences in quality and applicability of the sources.
- Develop mastery level knowledge of loss rating concepts for each line. Analyzing relationship between outside factors and the model, and adjusts loss rating accordingly, justifying position.
- Develop mastery level knowledge of all rating plans and variable options. Making appropriate pricing decisions that balance need for growth and profit. Understanding the effect that individual account decisions have on overall book.
- Follow all underwriting & pricing guidelines and obtain management approval if warranted. Recognize when guidelines may need adjustment and escalating to the management team.
- Develop master of coverage forms evaluate and set coverage terms, utilizing company and National Account guidance to respond to account/broker requests
- Maintain positive and productive relationships with Field Team. Communicating all decisions effectively, including those from National Accounts' management.
- Identify opportunities to expand the reach and profitability of The Hartford's National Account's business.
- In collaboration with the field team, be involved in new business or renewal presentations/meetings with accounts and/or brokers as needed.
- Identify areas for improvement in tools and in various projects to support National Accounts growth and profitability objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- 5+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience preferred
- Experience handling loss-sensitive accounts preferred
- Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- An ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions.
- High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit
- Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills
- Goal-oriented and delivers outcomes

Position title level will be determined after careful consideration of candidate qualifications.
Location:
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Los Angeles, CA; Greenwood Village, CO; or Hartford, CT office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$123,200 - $196,800
The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
