The Hartford Fire Insurance Company in Hartford, CT has the following opening for a Senior Data Engineer

Job Description: Produce financial and market intelligence by querying data repositories and generating periodic reports. Devise methods for identifying data patterns and trends in available information sources. Utilize tools such as Informatica, B2B, PL/SQL, Hadoop, etc. to develop complex data assets that support organizational decision making via prototyping, data discovery, profiling, etc. Act as a subject matter expert on existing data assets through root cause analysis and resolution of any business/technical questions. Work with business partners and performance analytics teams to help develop requirements for data assets, prototyping, and data delivery. Support development of training materials and perform end-user training to ensure a high degree of customer engagement. Support documentation, metadata and data visualization of the assets. Participate in the development of the implementation plan as a subject matter expert. Leverage deep technical expertise and strong communication skills to deliver both invest and maintenance projects within the Personal Lines portfolio. Design and develop high quality, scalable software modules for next generation analytics solution suite. Prototype high impact innovations, catering to changing business needs, by leveraging new technologies (AWS - Cloud and Big Data). Consult with functional management in the analysis of short and long-range business requirements and recommend innovations which anticipate the future impact of changing business needs. Work closely with client management to identify and specify the complex business requirements and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g., Cloud, host-based, distributed systems, client server), software, hardware, technologies and tools. Provide highly technical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies that assist the functional business units in meeting their strategic objectives. Review the disaster recovery plan to ensure that new systems promote uninterrupted systems operation. Coordinate activities with cross-functional IT unit stakeholders (e.g., database, operations, telecommunications, technical support, etc.). Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective solution for the systems design. Formulate logical statements of business problems and devise, test and implement efficient, cost effective application program solutions (e.g., code and/or reuse existing code through the use of program development software alternatives and/or integrate purchased solutions). Prepare charts, tables and diagrams to assist in analyzing problems, utilizing various business, scientific, engineering and mathematical techniques. Analyze existing system and programming logic to provide more efficient machine operations or to identify difficulties, and revise the logic and procedures involved as necessary. Primary technical point of contact for interaction with other cross-functional units and teams. Assign personnel to the various projects or application components, and direct their activities. Review, evaluate and prepare periodic activity and progress reports for the team. Position is 100% remote, reporting to headquarters in Hartford, CT.

Job Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field of study. Requires 7 years of experience with a Bachelors or 5 years of experience with a Master's in IT systems analysis and application program development and ETL / Data Integration / Big Data / Cloud (AWS) Technologies or similar tools. Must have experience in each of the following skills: Oracle or Talend; Cron Jobs or Autosys scheduling tool, version control Tools; Data warehouse applications knowledge in financial/insurance domain; ErWin modeling, Big Data Distributed Processing (HDFS, Hive, Spark, PySpark), AWS, Data Analytical languages R or similar tools; and Programming skills in JavaScript, Angular Framework, JQuery, .Net and Java Spring Framework.

Salary Range: $134,077.00 - $170,040.00/year

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$134,077 - $170,040
