Emerging Technology & Innovation is dedicated to data-driven innovation at The Hartford. The team focuses on enhancing the value of our insurance portfolio by evaluating new, cutting-edge technologies, methods, and insuretech products; prototyping AI models and uses; and supporting business partners in leveraging AI to drive process and product improvements.

The team seeks an energetic and passionate Asset Owner to drive and communicate the ideation, design, and demonstration of solutions modernizing and transforming our operations and business. This position requires exposure to statistical or probabilistic modeling, data transformation and visualization, and will offer career-accelerating opportunities to refine skills and domain expertise in both the business and the craft of data science.
In this role, you will support a team working in a fast-paced, open-ended environment with cutting edge technologies in deep learning and generative AI. You'll help define and influence how our company's data scientists and business teams leverage data and machine learning to improve our processes and products.
This person will collaborate with senior leaders, business partners and data science teams from across the enterprise to support and influence further adoption of AI at The Hartford. Success will depend on your ability to break down and solve the problems of business and technical stakeholders, quickly delivering valuable prototypes and recommendations.
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Product Management:
- Gather requirements and prioritize product features based on multiple stakeholder needs. Plan and design capabilities and features in partnership with technical teammates.
Minimum Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in project or product management, preferably in Data Science/Machine Learning
- General understanding of statistics, analytic project lifecycle, and data science concepts
- Experience supporting development of AI, machine learning, or technical products
- Experience translating complex technical topics into business solutions and strategies
- Experience communicating and building relationships across a broad range of technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leaders
- Experience leveraging Microsoft Office tools to develop compelling visuals articulating complex analytical topics
- Experience with Agile and Scrum
- Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Insurance business domain knowledge
- Experience with supporting project execution and driving change to core business processes through the innovative use of quantitative techniques
- Experience in supporting artificial intelligence portfolios is strongly preferred
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$109,520 - $164,280
