The Flood Field Lead is responsible for leading the Write Your Own (FEMA) Flood Field Sales Representatives. This role is accountable for ensuring deliver of exceptional customer experience, driving new business and retention growth of Hartford's National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Business. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to drive employee engagement, build an inclusive environment, and provide professional development opportunities for team members.

Responsibilities of the Flood Field Lead

Financial Performance

  • Day to day leadership and oversight for Flood Field Team which is responsible for sourcing and servicing all business prospects (new and renewal).
  • Accountable for delivering the targeted financial performance consistent with the Flood department's business plan.
  • Analyzing financial performance pf the book of business; identify trends in performance and develop recommendations for improvements as needed.
  • Works closely with the AVP of Flood Sales to develop and implement operating plans that adhere to sales goals and strategies which will position the department to continue to grow and achieve profit targets.
  • Closely manages plan results and directs implementation of specific action to address financial and execution shortfalls.

Relationship Management

  • Drives direct client and distribution partner interactions.
  • Develop and maintain senior level relationships with associated distribution partners.
  • Support and coach sales representatives on targeted new business opportunities.
  • Develop insight into competitors' strengths, weaknesses, and strategies to leverage for profitable businesses and increased market penetration.

Staff Development

  • Accountable for supporting the building, training, and motivation of high performance, regionally based, resident sales representative team.
  • Provide coaching to staff on effective sales and account management practices; hold accountable to annual goals.
  • Complete effective annual performance reviews for staff.
  • Drive accountability and ownership of group results.
  • Develop market strategies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of field sales experience; prior 2+ years of leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrate strong relationship and influencing skills, quickly earns and maintains the trust of business partners and colleagues
  • Well organized in leadership and self-management including travel, handling competing priority, and staying focused on key execution levers
  • Embraces a culture of collaboration and innovation and strives for continuous improvement and champions of change
  • Executes in a fast pace, and high pressure sales organization
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 40% including overnights

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$120,000 - $180,000
