Manager, Corporate Security

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

Assists Head of Enterprise Security in the management of corporate security operations enterprise-wide for the protection of Hartford personnel, facilities and assets. Develops policies and procedures, proactive and reactive, designed to protect people, locations and the proprietary properties of The Hartford. Develops and implements corporate security policies to protect personnel and facilities from internal and external risks. Research new technologies to improve the security posture for facilities of The Hartford.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assists in the management of contract security officers enterprise-wide.
  • Implement and manage corporate security role in enterprise-wide emergency evacuation program ensuring compliance with local, state and federal fire safety codes.
  • Conducts training for emergency procedures and current terrorist trends
  • Conducts thorough investigations of all incidents under the jurisdiction of corporate security or in conjunction with Internal Audit Investigators, to include workplace violence, theft or any incident in violation of state statute or The Hartford's Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains direct communications with local, state and federal law enforcement and fire agencies, including Homeland Security, as may be required to assure a high level of awareness of possible terrorist threat, criminal activity or civil unrest that may affect The Hartford's employees, assets or facilities.

Critical Success Factors:

  • Effectively communicates a clear direction or vision with strong leadership and inter-personal skills. Able to effectively supervise contract security force, at both contract, and individual officer level.
  • A proven background of specialized experience in managing security and emergency operations.
  • A proven background of specialized law enforcement experience and training in dealing with current terrorist threats and defensive security solutions.
  • Conduct thorough and confidential investigations, as well as ability to effectively manage, (often on an immediate judgment basis) critical incident solutions.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, criminal justice, law enforcement, security or closely related field preferred
  • 10+ years of Law Enforcement/Corporate Security experience, including 5+ years of Command/Management experience.
  • Understanding of physical security issues, proper investigative methodologies and management of investigative services.
  • Security risk assessment and audit experience.
  • Strong understanding of security equipment and software as it relates to security access, cameras and alarm systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Well organized and detail oriented with an ability to multi-task.
  • High ethical standards a must.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Proven experience in conducing effective interviews and investigations.
  • Experience in analyzing intelligence information related to terrorist events.
  • Experienced in supervising investigations and security operations

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$94,960 - $142,440
