The Data Governance program is at the core of this transformation, creating the processes that make data a highly valuable, discoverable, reusable asset. As a Data Governance Coach, you will be an expert in our procedures and tools for Data Catalog, Data Marketplace, Data Lineage, and Data Quality. You will coach data producers and consumers in how to use these tools to get value from data. You will also turn that experience into continuous improvement feedback into the Data Governance program.

To excel in this role, you will need exceptional communication skills, experience in data analysis, and a focus on customer success. You will engage with business and technical stewards to advise and upskill them in Data Governance processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform hands-on coaching with multiple scrum teams to educate and upskill on Data Governance processes and tools.
  • Provide support and consulting by addressing inquiries, investigating solutions to complex issues, and communicating transparently with all stakeholders. Assist in creating and continuously improving Data Governance processes and reference materials.
  • Promote a culture of ownership to transform data into a strategic asset.
  • Proactively manage your priorities by working with your Product Manager.
  • Troubleshoot metadata tool results and be able to differentiate between root causes such as user error, tools configuration, technical limitations, or bugs and provide viable and realistic solutions.
  • Proactively assess technical issues and risks that could impact speed, functionality, flexibility, or clarity.
  • Collaborate with internal and vendor technical teams to address any software issues.
  • Listen to stakeholder needs to determine how the metadata platform should be configured for the best customer experience.
  • Leverage Agile methodology to work iteratively pairing closely with our business partners.
  • Foster a positive work environment by exemplifying cultural values and encouraging others to promote collaboration, accountability, diversity, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 6+ years of experience in a data-driven professional environment with a proven track record of success.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience performing data analysis and data mapping.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, analytical ability, and problem analysis.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • A customer-centric mindset that values helping users get their work done over following a rigid formula.
  • The ability to teach others not just to use a tool, but how to think about their data to get the most value from the tool.
  • The ability to read data models and SQL.
  • The ability to work closely with Data Governance teammates in two-way knowledge transfer.
  • Team player with transformation mindset.
  • Experience with process design.
  • Proven ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a timeline driven environment.
  • Ability to independently organize and execute your work while seeking input on priorities or help when needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with both technical and nontechnical individuals at all levels of the organization.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$96,560 - $144,840
