The Hartford is seeking a Data Engineer within the Actuarial Strategic Modeling team to design, develop, and implement modern and sustainable data assets to fuel machine learning and statistical modeling solutions across a wide range of strategic initiatives.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office location 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support actuarial analysis and reporting.
  • Build automated data pipelines with Airflow and MLflow that serve advanced statistical models and track key metrics
  • Consult with cross-functional team partners to understand business needs and develop reliable and effective solutions, that are easily maintainable
  • Use Enterprise GitHub for version control, documentation, code collaboration, and technical project management
  • Regularly engage in continuing education, including the development of MLOps and Cloud Engineering skills as well as Insurance Business proficiency

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree or 2+ years of experience.
  • Experience with CICD pipelines and practices (Github)
  • Experience in Cloud data warehouses (snowflake or equivalent), data pipelines and automation
  • Proficiency in SQL and and Python
  • Demonstrated history of manipulating and extracting value from various data structures and databases

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with agile software development is strongly preferred
  • Exposure to AWS Services (i.e. S3, EMR, Sagemaker, AWS batch etc)

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$100,960 - $151,440
