Personal Lines is currently seeking a consultant to join the Personal Lines Data Governance team as a Data Steward.
The Consultant will support business and technical teams through the implementation of policies, procedures, and technologies to support data governance and master data management. The ideal candidate will have data and analytics ability, strong business acumen, and experience working with information technology teams.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Responsibilities
- Be part of a Scrum Team, driving work independently and/or collaboratively towards achieving business outcomes.
- Work with both business and technical partners to develop metadata, with an understanding of what the business needs and how the technical teams are implementing the requirements.
- Develop and monitor data quality rules, perform ongoing data quality analysis, and ensure adherence to data governance standards.
- Work with functional teams to identify, triage and prioritize data quality issues and concerns and facilitate issue resolution sessions with development teams.
- Determine information needs and sources of data.
- Support the development of new data sources and data management tools to ensure most effective methods are used.
- Perform data analysis, data discovery, and data profiling using industry-standard querying tools, inclusive of Informatica, Snowflake, Thoughtspot, and Tableau
- Build a working knowledge of the organization, business, processes, and its customers by partnering with various teams.
- Manage data as an asset and to ensure trusted quality data.
- Drive governance and consistency in the data, tools, reporting, and analysis published for broader use by supporting and enforcing data policies and processes, data integrity and cleanliness, and the strategic use of data.
- Act as a change agent to help and drive implementation of industry best practices.
- Learn and expand your analysis capabilities such as business process mapping, data analysis, data testing, data wrangling, and data transformation mappings to build data assets that enable business value generation.
- Provide support and consultation by answering questions, researching possible solutions to complex problems, and fostering open communication between the business and technical teams.
Desired Skills
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
- Strong skills in all basic computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Experience with / knowledge of DMAIC, data quality management strategy.
- Experience working with Agile / Scrum practices
- Action-oriented with effective time management, and the ability to multi-task
- A self-starter who can work effectively across multiple teams.
- 2+ years of R and Python, or the willingness to learn / expand technical skills.
- Experience working with analysts in a research/modeling environment that leverages tools such as R.
- Experience working with reference data and Master Data Management tools, IBM Infosphere and / or Informatica a plus.
- Experience working with business stakeholders to understand requirements and help teams develop delivery solutions.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$77,360 - $116,040
