Business Operations Analyst - Trade Operations Private Assets

This position is within HIMCO Business Operations, which is responsible for the comprehensive operational support of HIMCO's Investment Operating Platform including the underlying Investment (IBOR) and Accounting (ABOR) Book of Record. The Analyst, Business Operations position is being offered to fill an opening on HIMCO's Trade Operations, Private Assets Team. The Trade Operations, Private Assets Team is responsible for ensuring that activity spanning the investment lifecycle is accurately processed and reconciled in HIMCO's systems for private asset including Limited Partnerships, Private Bonds, Private Equity, Bank Loans, and Private Credit. The candidate will work closely with the investment and operations teams to support all aspects of the private asset lifecycle. This position is being posted as an Investment Analyst, with the potential for hiring as a Senior Analyst based on experience.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

  • The candidate will join a team responsible for Trade Operations oversight for HIMCO's private investments. Covered asset include Limited Partnerships, Private Bonds, Private Equity, Bank Loans, and Private Credit.
  • Ensure Investment Book of Record (IBOR) and Accounting Book of Record (ABOR) transactional data is entered in a timely and accurately manner.
  • Reconcile and resolve breaks for financial reporting and investment management needs between internal and/or external systems.
  • Responsible for high value and time sensitive wire settlements utilizing internal and external tools.
  • Enter and manage alternative asset transactions in internal and external systems including BlackRock Aladdin, eFront, and Wall Street Office.
  • Develop and maintain detailed procedures and evidence of process controls to cross-train peers, support requests from auditors, and fulfil mandated testing of controls in a highly regulated industry.
  • Provide timely support to internal HIMCO clients, including, Portfolio Managers, Investment Sectors, Financial Reporting, Performance Measurement, and Client Reporting Teams.
  • Strive for continuous process improvement, by working with IT, and software vendors, to fully utilize system capabilities, implement new tools, and streamline processes,
  • Participate in projects within Business Operations as needed, including regulatory or client-initiated changes, or the testing and implementation support of IT development releases.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Investment Operations, Investment Middle Office, or related roles.
  • Advanced knowledge of bank loans and other alternative asset classes.
  • Prior experience working in BlackRock Aladdin, Wall Street Office, and eFront a plus.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel.
  • Must be highly organized and have a hunger to learn.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities with effective time management skills.
  • Demonstrated record of problem solving and critical thinking with strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication capabilities with a strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Proactive ownership of issues; willing to recommend solutions and take charge to resolve.
  • Strong customer service focus to provide exceptional support to internal and external clients.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.

Position allows entrance into the exciting world of investments at Hartford Investment Management Company. Daily functions will provide candidate access to skilled professionals including sector heads, portfolio managers, traders and research analysts that can help further their knowledge of the capital markets and investments in general.

As a condition of your employment for HIMCO, you will be required to affirm to HIMCO's Code of Ethics and understand that you will be required to comply with the disclosure of accounts, holdings, and pre-clearance of trades for the accounts of you and your household family members as more fully described in the Code of Ethics Key Points. If you will be deemed to be a "Covered Associate" under HIMCO's Pay to Play Policy, you will also need to disclose all political contributions that you have given within the past 2 calendar years.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$84,800 - $127,200
