The Hartford is looking for an Agile Product Owner (APO) to support the Global Specialty Data & Analytics portfolio. The APO will set priorities for 1-2 agile teams, represent the voice of the customer, and link execution to the business vision. This role involves supporting a multi-year roadmap to modernize critical data assets for various stakeholders, including underwriting, claims, actuarial, data science, operations, and compliance. The APO will report to the Agile Product Manager (APM) within the Data & Analytics Value Stream.

This role can be Hybrid or Remote. Candidates near office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Aurora, IL, New York, NY, and Danbury, CT) are expected to work in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Remote candidates will come into the office as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Lead product execution for 1-2 agile teams.
- Represent the voice of the customer.
- Manage the product backlog and prioritize stories.
- Partner with Scrum Masters, agile teams, Architects, APMs, Tech Leads, and business stakeholders.
- Ensure solutions meet the product vision.
- Guide agile teams in determining sprint goals.
- Write user stories and define acceptance criteria.
- Accept completed stories that meet quality expectations.
- Engage with stakeholders to identify product opportunities.
- Articulate the product vision and roadmap.
- Drive business readiness and change management activities.
- Monitor and share execution progress.
- Analyze delivery metrics for continuous improvement.
- Mentor Associate APOs.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a product-related role.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, XP).
- Experience with data & analytics, business intelligence, data warehouse, or Data Lake projects preferred.
- Proficiency with agile lifecycle management tools (e.g., Rally, JIRA).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience with ADKAR or other change management frameworks preferred.
- Basic understanding of data transformation and data warehouse concepts.
- Experience in cloud-based platforms is a plus.
- Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$100,000 - $150,000
