Job Description
The internship program will run from approximately June 2, 2025, through August 2025. Interviews may be held both in-person and/or virtually. Salary is compensable based on work experience and education level. The hourly rate will range from $18 - $21/hour.

Program Overview:
The Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED) is offering an exciting professional work experience for enthusiastic and motivated undergraduate and graduate students who are Massachusetts residents or enrolled in an institution of higher learning in Massachusetts. This program will allow students from diverse backgrounds to gain valuable real-world experience in public service and gain additional skills in a medium that will help build lifelong attributes.

Teamwork, organizational capabilities, problem-solving, and accountability are among the skills you will learn as part of a robust economy-based environment. As an EOED Intern, you will be at the forefront of an energetic, fast-paced, and ever-changing governmental atmosphere.
The ideal candidate would be an individual who is passionate about public service, and eager to learn and build experience in a professional setting. We look forward to meeting anyone who is prompt, professional, and ready to learn new things pertaining to public service. You must be ready and willing to commit 4-5 days a week for your duration, or as your manager needs.
The paid internship program will be a hybrid experience within EOED and the administrative offices like: Human Resources, Finance, Legal, IT, and Communications: Agencies/divisions within EOED will be part of the paid internship program. These agencies/divisions include:
- Massachusetts Office of Business Development (MOBD)
- Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment (MOITI)
- Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT)
- Massachusetts Film Office (MFO)
- Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR)
- Department of Telecommunications and Cable (DTC)
- Division of Insurance (DOI)
- Division of Banks (DOB)
- Division of Occupational Licensure (DOL)
- Division of Standards (DOS)
You Will Have the Opportunity To:

L egislative Affairs Internship will consist of working closely in the office of Chief of Staff performing various research, review and administrative task.
Human Resource Interns will assist with onboarding, administrative work, recruitment, training and engagement.
Communication Intern will assist in creating, editing, and proofreading content for social media.
Community Program Intern will assist with reviewing contract documents for accuracy, helping develop, maintain, and track the contracting process, and reviewing contract payments for accuracy.
Massachusetts Office of Business Development Intern will assist MOBD team with research on business development initiatives, state programs, and economic trends.
Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism Intern will assist MOTT marketing team with tourism marketing promotion, program research, writing assignments, blogs or design projects, content research for MOTT social media accounts, visitma.com, and Massachusetts 250.org, and travel data research-related tasks.
Massachusetts Film Office (MFO) Intern will assist MFO team in creating promotional materials highlighting the region's film-friendly attributes, including videos, photos, and written content.
Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment Intern will assist in creating briefing documents, PowerPoint presentations, research and m eeting preparation.
Rural Affairs Intern will analyze rural policy plan research process via outreach to contributors and assemble findings and present to Rural Policy Advisory Commission to inform comprehensive development of updated plan.
Small Business Development Office Intern will support ongoing initiatives and special projects aimed at enhancing small business growth and development in the community.
Division of Banks (DOB) Consumer Assistance Unit & IT FinTech Intern will conduct research on emerging FinTech, cybersecurity, and cryptocurrency trends, assist with IT risk assessments, policy compliance, and risk management projects, and support the development of best practice policies. The intern will also contribute to creating training materials, monitoring cyber threats, and providing insights on IT and cybersecurity industry trends.
Division of Occupational Licensure (DOL) Consumer and Regulatory Affairs interns (On-Site) will perform customer service and administrative tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
Division of Insurance (DOI):

- Health Care Access - Actuarial Intern will work under the direction of the health actuary to gather and analyze insurance data, assist with administrative tasks related to insurer rate increase requests, and gain expertise in regulatory systems management, including SERFF.
- State Rating Bureau - Actuarial Intern will support staff involved in rate setting or rate oversight by various data analysis projects assigned to them.
