Job Description

Tewksbury Hospital under the Department of Public Health (DPH) is currently hiring for the position of Storekeeper II - Storehouse. Tewksbury Hospital is a 370 bed Joint Commission accredited hospital. The hospital provides comprehensive treatment, care, and comfort to adults with medical and/or mental illnesses.

The Storekeeper II actively participates in receiving, storing, distributing and delivering, supplies and equipment at the Storehouse for the main hospital. He/she operates manual and powered pallet jacks and drives the delivery truck, and participates in all scheduled physical inventories and assists with overall department needs.

Please Note: This position is 40 hours per week, working first shift (7:00am - 3:30pm). Days off are Saturday and Sunday.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

• Receives all supplies and equipment delivered to the hospital through the storehouse loading dock.

• Practices safe handling procedures and utilizes available equipment such as pallet jacks and dock plates to load and offload trucks.

• Checks all documentation against the products delivered for accuracy prior to accepting delivery. Utilizes the packing lists and purchase orders to verify the description and quantity of delivered products are correct.

• Properly routes copies of receiving documentation to the appropriate areas for processing.

• Ensures that all original receiving documentation is sent to the General Services Department.

• Distributes all supplies and equipment to various locations within the main hospital facility as directed.

• Ensures all supplies are properly rotated taking note of expiration dates and employs a first in first out method of distribution.

• Maintains all areas of the Storehouse in a clean, neat and organized manner

• Delivers supplies to various departments per assigned schedules and par level documentation and ensures that the proper quantity of each item is delivered on time.

• Provides outstanding customer service when responding to incoming calls and requests for supplies.

• Notifies the supervisor of any request for nonstock items.

• Maintains all equipment utilized in transporting supplies in a manner that ensures reliable and safe operations.

• Pays great attention to detail in maintaining accurate records for all items distributed throughout the facility.

• Performs entry of daily and weekly supply issue data into the Meditech Materials Management application for purposes of inventory control.

• Participates in tri-annual physical inventories to ensure accurate counts and distribution of supplies.

Required Qualifications:

• Required to have physical stamina and endurance with the ability to lift and carry heavyweight objects and stand for prolonged periods of time.

• Ability to drive a truck for pickups and deliveries.

• Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language, communicate effectively and follow written and oral instructions.

• Understands how to prioritize daily responsibilities, multitask, and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.

• Skilled in working accurately with names, numbers, codes and/or symbols; gathering information by examining records and documents, and maintaining accurate records.

• Exhibits excellent customer service skills and has ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships and deal tactfully with others.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment, work alone and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Tewksbury Hospital offers a broad range of services including a physician on site at all times, around-the-clock nursing care, rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, psychology services, social services, nutritional services, and an on-site dialysis clinic.

Qualifications

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have at least one year of full-time, or equivalent part- time, experience in storekeeping work in a storeroom, stockroom or warehouse, the major duties of which included receiving, storing and issuing supplies and equipment.

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
