Job Description

The MDAA seeks to fill a Staff Attorney vacancy with an attorney that has experience prosecuting domestic violence and sexual assault cases. The Staff Attorney is responsible for developing and delivering all curricula and trainings that the MDAA offers through its Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grant funding. The Staff Attorney is required to develop and deliver monthly webinars and on-site trainings for prosecutors, victim-witness advocates and other criminal justice and law enforcement professionals on topics related to violence against women. The Staff Attorney is responsible for tracking all relevant proposed legislation, as well as changes to pertinent laws enacted by the Legislature or decided by the Courts. The Staff Attorney is responsible for summarizing cases, updating training materials and resources, and contributing to website content. The Staff Attorney is required to travel within the Commonwealth when on-site trainings are conducted. The Staff Attorney is responsible for writing the annual VAWA grant application, satisfying all grant requirements, and filing the requisite grant reports.

This is a 22.5-hour position with a flexible, hybrid schedule, offering benefits, including health, vision/dental, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, and accrued paid time off. There is an opportunity to make this a full-time position for the right candidate.

Qualifications

Juris Doctorate, admission to the Massachusetts Bar, and at least three years of trial and prosecutorial experience in Massachusetts.

Demonstrated interest in hands-on training and developing training materials.

Self-directed, passionate, outgoing and motivated individual who works well independently and as part of a team.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and to interact with a wide range of professionals.

A valid driver's license and the ability to use a personal vehicle to travel to training locations.
