Job Description
The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking dynamic applicants for the role of Security Team Specialist I. The selected candidate conducts patrols to protect life and property and to maintain a secure campus environment by assuring compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
Please Note:This is a full-time, 40-hour position. Schedule is as follows:
- 2nd Shift 2:00pm - 10:00 p.m. Days off Week 1: Sunday & Friday, and Week 2: Tuesday & Saturday.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Patrols all buildings, grounds, and adjacent areas of the hospital at regular intervals and guards against trespass, theft,

speeding and other traffic conditions and takes necessary measures to prevent unauthorized use of hospital roads and
parking facilities.

Required Qualifications:
- Skilled in dealing tactfully with others and interact with individuals who are under physical and/or emotional stress.
- Ability to apprehend trespassers and violators of the law.
- Talent for maintaining a calm manner, making decisions, and acting quickly in dangerous, stressful, or emergency
situations. - Capacity to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
- Demonstrated ability in documenting reports to gather information through questioning individuals, conducting interviews,
and examining records and documents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior health care facility security experience.
- Ability to solve problems and relate to hospital staff, constituents, and other community members in a positive and professional manner.
- Talent for recognizing the cultural diversity of the campus community and ensure sensitive and equitable treatment of all who work and visit the campus.
- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
About Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH):
Located on over 100 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations.
WRCH provides inpatient services to 290 adults, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service, and 30 adolescents on the ACCU.

Qualifications

Minimum Entrance Requirements: None.
Special Requirements: Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Appointee must be eligible for appointment as a special police officer under Chapter 22C, Section 60 (DPH) and Section 59 (DMH & DMR) of the Massachusetts General Laws.
Title 101 CMR 23.00 ("Regulation") requires certain agency staff to have received the COVID-19 vaccination and Influenza vaccination, or have taken required mitigation measures, to prevent viral infection and transmission in State Hospitals and State Congregate Care Facilities. The Regulation applies to this position. Successful candidates will be required to acknowledge and attest to your vaccination status for both COVID-19 and Influenza.
