Job Description

Position Summary

The Reentry Program for the Massachusetts RMV works closely with participating Department of Corrections facilities, allowing inmates the opportunity to obtain a Massachusetts Identification Card upon release. The program also works with participating Sheriff County Offices, allowing inmates the opportunity to have a Commercial Learner's Permit exam to be proctored to them on site prior to their release. The Reentry Program Compliance Officer conducts internal audits for all submitted names of inmates looking to obtain a Massachusetts Identification Card or to take a proctored Commercial Learner's Permit exam. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing all applications and validating documents submitted on their behalf. This position will also be expected to travel alongside the Reentry Program Coordinator to Department of Corrections facilities and Sheriff County Offices to obtain updated photos, capture updated signatures, and proctor Commercial Learner's Permit exams.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews applications and validates documents submitted by the Department of Correction on behalf of inmates pertaining to Massachusetts Identification Cards to determine eligibility status.
  • Reviews applications and validates documents submitted by County Sheriff's offices on behalf of inmates pertaining to Commercial Learner's Permits to determine eligibility status.
  • Assists the Program Coordinator in coordinating and conducting training and industry outreach presentations to Department of Corrections and County Sheriff's offices regarding policies, processes, and procedures pertaining to inmates looking to obtain a Massachusetts Identification Card or Commercial Learner's Permit.
  • Serves as backup liaison behind the Program Coordinator to any outside vendor assisting with Commercial Learner's Permit applications.
  • Proctors on site Commercial Learner's Permit exams at approved County Sheriff's offices in the Commonwealth.
  • Assists the Program Coordinator with documentation, reports and testimony necessary for conducting investigative and/or disciplinary hearings.
  • Comply with all Mass DOT/RMV standards, work-place operating policies and procedures.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge and use of the ATLAS system and their functions pertaining to the DL/CDL compliance process.
  • Report any issues directly to supervisor.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties.

Pre-Hire Process

Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants must agree to and successfully satisfy: (i) a comprehensive name-based and fingerprint-based background check of his/her state and federal criminal history records information from all U.S. states, the District of Columbia and certain U.S. Territories and from some foreign nations; (ii) an employment reference check, and (iii) a satisfactory review of his/her driving records to be eligible for this position.

Qualifications

Minimum Entrance Requirements

Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in investigatory, law enforcement or regulatory administration work, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

A Bachelor's or higher degree may be substituted for the required experience.

Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License may be required.
