Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Emerging Adult Program Coordinator will ensure that the programming and services are delivered in a manner that promotes participants and their families social and emotional support and growth. The Emerging Adult Program Coordinator is responsible for working closely with all members of the team and relevant community stakeholders to ensure effective, efficient service delivery. The Emerging Adult Program Coordinator shall represent the organization in a positive, professional image. The Program Coordinator may be asked to work overtime as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct psycho-educational emerging adult groups and individual sessions.

• Oversee and coordinate pro social family events.

• Complete all program documentation forms and enter appropriate data into the database.

• Develop and update treatment plan with input from team as indicated by program policies and procedures.

• Maintain continuous record of all client contacts, including progress toward accomplishment of goals.

• Maintain internal documentation that meets all state, local, and program standards.

• Participate in ongoing continuing education programs in adherence to established.

• Oversee and monitor activities of the assigned unit.

• Confer with management staff and others in order to provide information concerning program implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of the scope of the program in the assigned unit.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of criminogenic needs and therapeutic interventions with particular focus on the needs of the Young Adult and their children.
  • Thorough understanding of parenting issues and counselling.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with computer knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to function in a professional manner, always demonstrating strong interpersonal skills with other staff.
  • Ability to manage/ prioritize multiple tasks and work independently as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Sensitivity to diverse and individual needs of this Young Adult population.

Comments:

This is a Civil Service position. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement. Applicants must have no felony convictions, to include any actions defined in 5 U.S.C. 301; U.S.C. 509, 510; 42 U.S.C. 15601-15609. The Massachusetts Department of Correction shall not hire anyone who may have direct contact with offenders, who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph. The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with offenders or residents. The DOC urges bilingual applicants to apply.

Qualifications

First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.

II. A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of three years of the required (A) experience.


III. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.

Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

NOTE: No substitutions will be permitted for the required (B) experience.
