Job Description

Duties:

Manages, directs, and coordinates all Food Service activities relating to the planning, preparation and serving of meals to incarcerated individuals at all facilities located at the Department of Correction Bridgewater Complex. This involves managing staffing patterns for civilians and incarcerated individuals, sanitation, complying with Department cycle menu, purchasing, cost accounting and specific record keeping such as food issue forms, production records, proper inventory levels, which include monitoring inventories of all foods and supplies, etc. Responsible in overseeing that all Serve Safe protocols are strictly adhered to and that compliance with all relevant DPH regulations are maintained. Assumes final responsibility for providing all persons confined in the facility with meals, which are nutritionally adequate, and properly prepared using approved DOC Recipes and are attractively served. Must ensure that all satellite foods are handled in a safe and appropriate manner. Must work closely with the Health Services Division to ensure that all prescribed therapeutic diet orders are implemented and prepared appropriately. Responsible for the overall security of Food Services by following all security procedures and proper tool control. Responsible for managing Correction Officers in the performance of their duties. Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work in a correctional institution setting. A degree or specific training in food service management. Five (5) years of experience in managing an institutional food service operation. Must be proficient with Microsoft software. Serve Safe Certified and other enhanced food service certificates.

The Massachusetts Department of Correction shall not hire anyone who may have direct contact with offenders, who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph. Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience.

II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.

III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience.

IV. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the required (A) experience.
