The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) is the lead enterprise technology organization for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Charged with driving the ongoing alignment of business and technology across the Commonwealth's Executive Branch, EOTSS oversees and manages the enterprise technology, digital infrastructure and services, as well as the Commonwealth Security Operations Center and an enterprise Standard Operating Environment that includes an information security and risk management framework for over 125 state agencies and over 43,000 state employees. We directly serve our constituents by providing digital services and tools that enable taxpayers, drivers, businesses, visitors, families and other citizens to do business with the Commonwealth in a way that makes every interaction with government easier, faster, and more secure.

The Office of Municipal & School Technology (OMST) is seeking a Municipal & School Technology Intern to join their team. OMST services municipalities and school districts across the Commonwealth by providing information about and administering technology grants available to local government. OMST creates opportunities for regional in-person and virtual collaboration as well as providing technical assistance on community technology initiatives. OMST promotes state resources that can improve local government operations.
The primary work location for this role will be at One Ashburton Place, Boston, Massachusetts 02108. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM EST. This position would be expected to follow a hybrid model of reporting to work that combines in-office workdays and work from home days as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Log OMST based program participation, Community Compact Cabinet Grant (CCC) awards, and update OMST SharePoint with the specific award information.
- Contribute to the data gathering information for the OMST SharePoint School Demographics and collaborate on ways to organize the information in useful way and implement as agreed.
- Investigate state and federal programs and organize the information in a way that is readable and useful.
- Participate in our Municipal Cybersecurity Awareness Grant Program (MCAGP). This grant program is awarded annually to local government agencies, and OMSTadministers the MCAGP with its participants and the vendor Proofpoint to improve cybersecurity posture through end-user training, evaluation, and threat simulation.
- Assist in the administration of internal and external data, to ensure data integrity for the OMST team and program participants.
- Contribute to the management of data in OMST SharePoint.
- Perform some data analysis to provide insights and trends.
- Based on acquired knowledge from projects, provide recommendations on improvements
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- A willingness to learn.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Organized and process oriented.
- Prior experience with MS Excel and MS Word.
- Possess database knowledge, MS SharePoint is a plus.
- Willingness to participate as a team member.
- Ability to work actively and productively remotely.
- Some knowledge of Municipal government is a plus.
