Job Description
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking dynamic candidates to work directly with the residents the two State Operated Programs, Respite and High St. Apartments . The selected candidate will engage in client activities as well provide direct care services including but not limited to medication administration, money management, crisis intervention, activities of daily living, accompaniment and advocacy at appointments.
Primary work site is Lawrence/High St. Program, there is an expectation to cover shifts at Andover/Respite Program as needed, both High St. Program and Respite are considered one work unit.
Please note the incumbent will work 40 hours per week, 2nd shift 3:00pm-11:30pm. Days off -Sunday/Monday

Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Provide direct care services to program residents in accordance with their rehabilitative needs and treatment goals.
- Completes all necessary documentation in accordance with program and department standards.
- Secures community services necessary in the treatment of clients.
- Promotes and upholds the process of recovery in order to promote hope, healing, compassion and connection.
- Responsible to complete all written documentation necessary for the resident and program operations. Maintain resident records and relevant data and documentation necessary for a complete up-to-date record of services according to program and department standards utilizing the technology available.
- Carries out job duties in a professional manner by exhibiting a positive, flexible attitude and initiating opportunities for personal and professional growth to enhance the overall operations of the state operated programs.
- Follows program policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment.
- Works in partnership with clients in all aspects of service planning, treatment and support activities.
- Conducts activities in a culturally competent manner.
- Helps maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the program space.
- Ensures fire safety standards and emergency evacuation procedures are maintained
Required Qualifications:
MUST BECOME MAP CERTIFIED WITHIN (6) MONTHS OF ENTERING THE POSITION
- Possession of a valid drivers license
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Capacity to perform basic mathematics.
- Proven ability to gather information through observing and questioning individuals.
- Talent for communicating effectively in oral expression, writing clearly and concisely, and developing ideas in logical sequence.
- Skilled in interacting with people who are under emotional stress with the ability to maintain a calm manner in stressful or emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- It is preferred that applicants have experience working with individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness and experience doing crisis intervention with this population.
- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
