About Northern Essex Community College:
THE COLLEGE: Northern Essex Community College (NECC) serves about 5,000 credit students each semester on two campuses located in the beautiful, historic Merrimack Valley region of northeast Massachusetts. Our suburban Haverhill campus sits on 106 acres near Kenoza Lake and features a Technology Center and an award-winning Student One-Stop Center. Our urban campus in Lawrence occupies a number of buildings in the heart of downtown. Job Description:
POSITION: Full-Time Mathematics Faculty (Assistant Professor): Department of Mathematics; Division of Science, Technology, engineering and Mathematics; Tenure Track; Haverhill and Lawrence Campus'; 37.5 hours per week; MCCC/MTA Unit Faculty Position
SUMMARY: The Department of Mathematics is seeking a dynamic and engaging educator to teach mathematics courses at all levels for both STEM and non-STEM students, with a strong focus on teaching Early College students. The ideal candidate's daily course load will be evenly divided, with 50% devoted to teaching mathematics courses and the other 50% to teaching Early College courses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach mathematics courses at various levels and modalities, with an emphasis on Early College students.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings and collaborative activities.
- Deliver assigned courses on NECC's Haverhill and Lawrence campuses.
- Teach select courses at Early College partner high schools, as needed.
- Attend division meetings and other required gatherings.
- Contribute to college service and curriculum enhancement, including the development of online and hybrid courses.
- Serve as an academic advisor to assigned students.
- Provide student advising and maintain regular office hours.
- Foster a collegial and professional team environment.
- Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master's degree in Mathematics or applied Mathematics with college-level mathematics teaching experience
- Demonstrated ability to teach within, and contribute positively to, a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and high expectations of academically disadvantaged students
- Knowledge of pedagogy of mathematics learning
- Commitment to teaching and responding to the educational needs of Early College students
- The applicant must possess good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to demonstrate his/her ability and willingness to be involved in curriculum design and professional development in the area of mathematics instruction.
- The applicant should be experienced with the use of technology in the classroom and have experience with multiple forms of course deliveries
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Community college teaching experience
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

Additional Information:
SALARY: Anticipated starting salary range is $58,438.00 - $68,681.00 (Rank of Assistant Professor with a master's degree) per academic year with complete fringe benefit package. Complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, free dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA salary schedule commensurate with education and experience. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
